2020 Best Buddies Spring Internship

Position Overview: This internship will focus on the 2020 Best Buddies North Carolina Friendship Walk, taking place on Saturday, May 2. The internship will also support Best Buddies Programs in NC for the 2019-20 school year. Intern will be responsible for supporting members of the Best Buddies North Carolina office in achieving state office objectives. Intern will gain valuable non-profit experience including fundraising, donor relations, research and development. Please note – there is no financial stipend for this internship. Credit hours available (if applicable).

Dates: January – May 2020

Job Qualifications

Must be comfortable engaging with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)
Basic project and time management skills
Strong written communication skills
Reliable transportation available
Adaptability to ambiguous situations
Ability to multi-task
Organized/detail oriented
Communication and problem solving skills
Available on Saturday, May 2.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to the below and may include additional responsibilities as needed per office:

Communication: Execute mass communication (participants, parents, supporters, staff, community advocates, and board members) through a variety of channels. Develop interpersonal skills needed to successfully manage a nonprofit organization.

Donation/Sponsorship: Secure incentive items for top fundraising participants, arrange food/drink items, gift cards and other donations as needed.

Logistics: Research and book mascots, event equipment, face painters, warm-up team, National Anthem singer, photographers, sound system, staging equipment, portable restrooms, seating, tables, and various other rentals and resources. Develop knowledge of the disability community.

Program: Support programmatic initiatives/events as needed.
