9 Books For Kids Book Sorter

Channel 9 and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library are currently holding a community book drive so children and teens can have free books this summer. 1000's of books have been donated! We need help sorting the books by age group at the Main Library (310 N. Tryon Street). Individuals and groups of 14 or less are welcome. You can volunteer 2 to 4 hour stints Monday – Friday, 10 am to 7 pm. Saturdays by arrangement. Starting April 5 – July 2 but may end earlier with good volunteer response.
Limited parking is available at ImaginOn (300 East 7th. Street) and the light rail is 1.5 blocks away. Jeans and t-shirts are best to work in. Coffee, water and light snacks will be available.
Books in the home are a huge indicator for academic success,” said Jenna Marotta, active reading training coordinator. “It's the single most important indicator for how a child will do in school.” Please join us in halting the summer brain drain, and help build home libraries for our children and teens. You can sign up on the Library’s website www.cmlibrary.org/volunteer or contact Volunteer Manager cwall@cmlibrary.org to be scheduled and answer additional questions.
