Volunteer Opportunity:

ALP Literacy Tutor
*ALP tutors provide one-on-one instruction, twice weekly, with their students.
*ALP tutors receive in-depth training in a multi-sensory, explicit, systematic method of reading instruction based on the Orton-Gillingham approach.
*ALP tutors receive ongoing coaching and support.
*Every ALP lesson encompasses the five “pillars” of reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.
*ALP tutors are matched with low-income first- or second-graders who are significantly behind in reading.
*ALP tutors commit to 60 hours of pro bono tutoring with a student in mostly Title 1 schools in CMS.
*ALP training and tutoring are in person and virtual for the 2021-2022 school year.
