We are thrilled to celebrate our 6th year of partnership with Lowe’s to inspire generosity in our joint hometown of Charlotte on Giving Tuesday! For the past five years, SHARE Charlotte and Lowe’s have teamed on #GivingTuesdayCLT, which is the local celebration of Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving.

In 2012, Giving Tuesday was launched as a simple idea - a day that encourages people to come together and do good in their communities. Always held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, after we have eaten and shopped, Giving Tuesday is a day to give back to local nonprofits. Last year this day inspired $3.1B in giving on a single day in the U.S.

What is #GivingTuesdayCLT?

#GivingTuesdayCLT is the local response to the global day of giving, Giving Tuesday which last year inspired $3.1B on a single day in the U.S. This day locally is powered by SHARE Charlotte and presented by Lowe’s, last year inspired $5.7M in giving to our local nonprofits.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and our world. Created in 2012 as a simple idea - a day that encourages people to come together and do good - this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity each year.

"What does generosity mean to you?" This is the question we asked 10 Charlotte artists as they set out to create an original piece of artwork in honor of #GivingTuesdayCLT and dedicated to a local nonprofit of their choice.
