Board Member
Founded in 2002, Shining Hope Farms is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to enable children and adults to reach their full potential through the use of equine assisted activities and therapies. We are currently looking for interested individuals to assist on committees or join our board of directors. Most of our meetings take place at our administrative location in Mt. Holly located at 328 Whippoorwill Lane, Mt. Holly, NC 28120. However, we have board members from the surrounding areas of all three of our locations including board members who dial in to our meetings.
The intention of our board of directors is to:
• Help establish the strategic direction of our organization
• Help ensure our organization has the resources it needs – leadership, finances, and a solid reputation
• Helps to provide oversight and accountability for the organization’s programs, finances, and legal matters
Specifically, we hope you can use your skills to help with some of these board member responsibilities:
1. Set the Mission and the Vision of the Organization
2. Create a Plan for the Organization
3. Determine Programs and Projects
4. Support and Evaluate the Director
5. Select the Director
6. Recruit, Train and Evaluate Board Members
7. Build Strong Public Standing
8. Ensure Adequate Resources
9. Ensure Effective Resource Management
10. Maintain Integrity and Accountability
