Mission of Queen City Robotics Alliance (QCRA) - Nurturing the future workforce by providing practical and hands-on STEM experiences for local youth. Vision - That all students in the greater Charlotte area are equipped and prepared for their future paths. Description The board of directors of QCRA will support the work and provide mission based leadership and governance. Specific Board Member responsibilities include: - Providing guidance in employee, volunteers, and other human resource management practices. Ensure organization is in compliance with typical requirement and following the best practice. - Know and understand the mission, policies, programs, and needs of QCRA - Serve as an advisor to the QCRA Board Chairman and help implement QCRA’s strategic plan - Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings - Approving QCRA’s annual budget, audit reports, and business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities - Assisting the Board Chairman in identifying and recruiting other Board Members - Partnering with the Board Chairman and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out - Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments - Representing QCRA to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization - Ensuring QCRA’s commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities QCRA serves Qualifications This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about QCRA’s mission. Selected Board Members should have expertise or experience in different areas of need especially in personnel management. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications: - Professional and Leadership experience in a corporate environment preferred. - A commitment to and understanding of QCRA’s beneficiaries, preferably based on experience - Relationship and networking skills with the ability to cultivate relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals - Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of QCRA’s beneficiaries Board terms/participation - QCRA’s Board Members will be expected to attend board meetings and participate in committees and other volunteering opportunities as available. Board meetings will be held monthly and committee meetings may be held in addition. Financial support is encouraged. Service on QCRA’s Board of Directors is without remuneration.
