Brave Step is seeking committee members who are passionate about our mission and able to contribute skills, knowledge, and experience to grow our programs, and community connections to expand our reach.

Estimated commitment: 5 hours a month.

A brief description of the available committees are as follows:

Vision Committee – The Vision Committee is responsible for the health, operations and development of Brave Step’s governance structure. This committee oversees all Board activities, including recruitment and administration. In addition to the management of governance, the Vision Committee interfaces with the Executive Director to ensure the ongoing development of the Board of Directors is aligned with Brave Step’s strategic direction. The Board Secretary typically chairs or co-chairs this committee.

Operations Committee – The Operations Committee oversees all internal and operational issues, including fiscal management, human resources, asset management, facilities and infrastructure. This committee is responsible for managing the fiscal health of the organization and providing oversight for human resource decisions, among other tasks. The Operations Committee interfaces with the Executive Director, who is responsible for direct management of staff, such as the Case Manager. The Board Treasurer typically chairs or co-chairs this committee.

Outreach Committee – The Outreach Committee leads all external relations activities, particularly related to setting the strategy for marketing and communications efforts, public relations and fundraising-related relationship development. The Outreach Committee interfaces with the Marketing and Communications Director and Volunteer Director. This committee is responsible for developing strategies for all Board outreach and working with the Executive Director to oversee board engagement in outreach and resource development activities. The Board President typically chairs or co-chairs this committee.

Committee schedules vary based on purpose and leadership. At a minimum, it is expected that the committee will meet in four or more times a year, often more when warranted, in person whenever possible or as circumstances warrant.
