College and Career Mentor

Raise a Child of the Carolinas (the RACC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization focused on exposing youth to educational opportunities that are underrepresented in their communities, thus inspiring them to reach their full potential. The RACC organization was started in 2018 and provides local children with tutoring, seasonal camps and family programs and offers English as a Second Language programs as well. Throughout the pandemic, the RACC has also partnered with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to offer in-person education solutions to supplement the remote learning process.

Volunteers are needed for The RACC Young Leaders Program
A program aimed at preparing high school students for college and career transition. This role will be supervised by the Director of the Young Leaders Program and sessions will be held at Sugar Creek Charter High School.

Responsibilities include:
- Leading 8 weekly instructional sessions on Tuesday afternoons
- Helping students complete weekly professional development activities
- Working with students to understand the different STREAM fields
- Guiding students on how to act in a professional environment
- Attending 3 weekend sessions where students will meet industry professionals
- Break diversity barriers through community partnerships and engagement
