Raise Awareness and Funds to Fight Sexual Assault in Your WorkPlace! In 1999, an Italian High Court overturned a rape conviction declaring that, because the victim wore very tight jeans, she had to help remove them, and by removing the jeans it was no longer rape but consensual sex. Enraged by the verdict, women protested the ruling by wearing jeans on the steps of parliament. As news of this decision spread internationally, so did the protest. #DenimDay was born. Join Safe Alliance in showing your support for survivors and raising awareness about the devastating impacts of sexual violence and how to prevent it. Organizations can participate by encouraging employees to wear jeans on one day in April. Email Sydney.Hammond@SafeAlliance.org to participate. To hold a meaningful fundraiser, employees or organizations can donate at www.SafeAlliance.org/DenimDay.
