2020 Summer Internship Overview: SHARE Charlotte is looking to hire up to three paid summer marketing interns for support mid-May through mid-August, 2020. SHARE Charlotte is building a better Charlotte by empowering nonprofits and helping people invest in their communities in ways that matter most to them. We do this by providing a one-stop shop to engage with over 400 Mecklenburg County nonprofits at sharecharlotte.org, and by connecting our nonprofit partners to valuable local resources and opportunities. Marketing Interns will help SHARE Charlotte identify and implement marketing strategies to increase community engagement and nonprofit partner value. Interns are treated as teammates and will contribute and execute creative ideas in an open and fun team environment. We want to hear your crazy and GOOD ideas, so be ready to bring it! Primary Responsibilities: Help develop and implement creative ideas for community engagement Support SHARE Charlotte’s social media strategy by helping to develop creative content (graphics, photography, etc) Support and contribute to creative web content including blogs Conduct nonprofit and community research Create, develop, assemble and deliver promotional materials Assist with on-site marketing events Accompany SHARE teammates to community events including media interviews and other appropriate meetings Desired Qualifications: Must be in college (junior or senior), a recent college graduate, in grad school or currently pursuing some sort of higher education Must have experience in / be currently working towards a degree / higher educational opportunity in business, communications, marketing, PR or other marketing-related field. Highly organized; able to juggle multiple tasks at the same time and prioritize effectively Excellent time-management Energetic and outgoing Some previous marketing experience is preferred Experience in organizing and/or managing events Strong interpersonal skills and can communicate professionally Experience using social media outlets including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Access to and working knowledge of Google Drive Responsible and accountable Creative, out-of-the-box thinking Experience and/or interest in giving back to your community Strong attention to detail Must be a team player, willing to roll up your sleeves and get into the weeds with SHARE staff and fellow interns Must project a professional image through in-person, email and phone interaction Availability to come into the office 3 or more days a week (flexible) Access to a computer (laptop preferred) to bring to the office each day. NOTE: If you don’t have access to a laptop but are otherwise qualified for this internship, please still apply and we will see what we can figure out! Timeframe and Hours: 13 Weeks – Monday, May 18 through Friday, August 14 (can begin earlier and stay longer, as available!) 20 hours / week (however we may have enough work to accomodate 30+ hours if desired) Normal business hours are Monday - Friday between 10am and 4pm, however there will occasionally be exceptions. Some Fridays will be work-from-home days. NOTE: We may be able to be flexible around student schedules or other employment commitments. There are some weekend event requirements but don’t worry, they will be fun! Compensation: This internship pays $15 per hour and requires 20 hours per week minimum. Additional benefits include a broad range of marketing experience as well as the opportunity to build important social capital which will be very valuable for your future and growth. Additionally, spending your summer interning for a nonprofit can count towards any service learning, volunteer or community philanthropy requirements you may require. Additional Information Due to the nature of our work, we are a very active group and are constantly on the go – having access to transportation as well as being able to be on-site at our offices (Hygge Coworking @ 1026 Jay Street) are important. Free on-site parking is available. College credit may be available based on your school and its requirements.
