During the Federal government shutdown, our citizens, including our elder and disabled citizens, received their food allotments for both January and February together. This meant that there would be no benefits given to some citizens until late March with the threat of another shutdown looming. Many citizens already deal with food deserts and scarcity. Also, we have heard from the food pantries that they are scrambling to prepare for the increase in requests. In response, we are collecting canned and non-perishable goods to help meet the need. From February 1st until February 17th. We have partnered with Project 70Forward and Teach A Man to Fish for this collective effort. We will be distributing nonperishable food items to anyone with an EBT card and proper form of ID. If you receive government assistance, and were affected by the recent government shutdown, please swing by to receive free nonperishable items collected through our donation food drive.
