Literacy Tutor for children and teens

The Center for Community Transitions (CCT) serves people impacted by incarceration. Our Families Doing Time program specifically serves families and children with incarcerated loved ones. Kids with incarcerated parents face many obstacles to academic success including social and emotional upheaval, poverty, and behavioral issues. We offer a variety of supports for social, emotional, and financial assistance and now we are tackling academic success more directly with a new literacy program for all grade levels. We are seeking dedicated volunteers to serve as reading buddies and tutors.

Volunteers will need to commit to a brief training in January, and then 2 hours 2 Thursdays a month from February to May. If interested, please contact Families Doing Time Director, Charis Blackmon, at cblackmon@centerforcommunitytransitions.org.
