The primary role of the Bruce Irons Camp Fund (BICF) mentor is to provide support and encouragement for the BICF mentee and help navigate them toward success in school and life! We ask the following of our volunteer mentors: 1. Help prepare your mentee for camp (Attend Camp Kick-Off Party in May with mentee; Help gather necessary clothing and bedding items and pack; Provide transportation to and/or from camp if able and needed; Write mentee at camp at least once a week) 2. Meet in-person with your mentee at least once every other month during the school year. (BICF provides enrichment opportunities to make this easy.) 3. Stay in touch with your mentee at least every month by phone, text, or email. 4. Pitch in to drive campers to enrichment activities, as needed and able. 5. Commit to sustaining a mentoring relationship with your mentee for the five years they are in our program (*Note – we are excited to be expanding into high school, so you will have the option to continue your relationship with your camper to graduation and beyond!)
