What We Do
Charity League, Inc. of Charlotte is a women’s nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the lives of Charlotte-area children by promoting academic achievement, prosocial behavior and self-worth through volunteerism. For 100 years, CLC has met the needs of Charlotte children through our all-volunteer membership. We have no paid staff, and all of our fundraising dollars go directly to our service mission in the community.
CLC has created "Hubs" in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (primarily Title 1 schools) at Albemarle, Devonshire, Hidden Valley and Sterling elementary schools providing free everyday essentials to underserved students. Almost 100% of the students at the schools we serve live at the poverty level. These "Hubs" store and offer free uniforms, new clothing, coats, toiletries/personal hygiene items, academic support material, educational supplies, books, backpacks, shoes and teacher appreciation support and more, and provide a regular presence and help to principals, teachers, staff and children.
