What We Do

We provide educational support services and resources for the children of Montagnard refugees from Vietnam living in West Charlotte. One of the primary ways we do that is through our partnership with Brookstone School. Nineteen K-8 students attend Brookstone, where they receive a high-quality private Christian education, as well as free afterschool programming and summer enrichment. FOCHUS also provides low-cost tax preparation services and immigration legal services for the refugee community. We also equip Montagnard young adults in peacemaking and conflict resolution and provide opportunities to use those skills on short-term missions trips to Vietnam.

Interesting Info

The MONTAGNARDS (pronounced mon-TUHN-yahrds), are the native inhabitants of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. They were American allies in the Vietnam War.
Because of the alliance with America during the war, and their Christian faith, many have faced persecution in Vietnam and come here as refugees.
FOCHUS provides Montagnard youth the tools and support necessary to succeed academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually in their new home.
