Soccer Foundation of Charlotte, Soccer FC, is a non-profit organization that provides free after-school soccer and literacy programming to Title 1 elementary schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg area. Our goal is to give every child in Charlotte a chance to play, regardless of their socioeconomic status. We also aim to improve literacy for our players by talking positively about reading, engaging them in an active read-aloud every practice, and building their home libraries. Each week every child gets to choose a book to take home with them to keep. We have been announced as one of Charlotte FC’s, the new Major League Soccer team in Charlotte’s, main community partners. As a result of this partnership, we are drastically expanding our programming across Charlotte and are actively looking for engaging, friendly, and responsible coaches to join our team. Who you are: You love children and have experience working with them. You want to be a part of something bigger than yourself. You want to make a positive impact on your community. You have excellent communication skills. You have basic knowledge of the game of soccer. You easily create relationships with people you don’t know. Responsibilities: You attend a Soccer FC training program (in person or via zoom) before the season begins. You form relationships with school staff, parents, players, and the program coordinator. You set up the provided equipment to create a field in a clean and professional way before each session. You ensure that there is a smooth transition to/from school for the players. You complete and update attendance after each session. You engage with the players in a meaningful and positive way. You execute 45 minutes of soccer training that follows the curriculum that Soccer FC provides. You positively discuss reading with the players on a regular basis. You execute an engaging, energetic active read-aloud that follows the guidelines and curriculum provided by Soccer FC. You successfully, and in an organized manner, hand out books to each child once a week after a session. You are responsible for upholding Soccer FC and school policies on the safety of every child you come in contact with. Other Details: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must have a valid driver's license. Candidates are required to be approved as a CMS volunteer and complete a background check. Leaders: Program Coordinator and Executive Director Where: Sessions will be held at elementary schools across the Charlotte Mecklenburg area. When: Each team will practice 2 times every week for a 12 week season. Teams will practice either Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday for 1 hour each day. Start times will differ from school to school, but all will be held directly after school. this means that you must be available between 3 pm and 5 pm. The fall season has already begun and the dates are September 20th through December 17th. Expectations: Coach a minimum of 1 team ( 2x’s 1-hour sessions each week). Coach a maximum of 6 teams (12x’s 1-hour session each week). Arrive 15 minutes early to every session to set up. Coaches are paid $25 for every session coached and $12.50/hr for any training completed. Job Type: Part-time Pay: $25.00 per hour
