Our Non-Profit partners rock when it comes to thanking volunteers. They know it's not just the right thing to do, it's important that volunteers and supporters understand how key they are to the overall mission.
But it's always good to have a little science to back you up! This article featured in Stanford Business School's Center for Social Innovation reports that "gratitude motivates prosocial behavior." Meaning if our volunteers feel thanked, they are more inclined to volunteer with us again.
So next time you're thanking volunteers, you'll know it's both an art and a science. And while we're at it - to our Neighbors and Non-Profit partners: thank you!
If you've been watching the news, you've probably seen or read about our #BetheChangeCLT day at Providence Day School. And what you probably heard about was the poverty simulation we did under the guidance of Crisis Assistance Ministry.
But what you didn't see, after the cameras flickered off and the journalists went on to their next assignments, is what the students did next.
Bus-loads of kids headed out across Charlotte to engage with six projects hosted by local non-profit organizations. My job was to tag along to one of them - Spay Neuter Charlotte.
And this was for the kids, you understand. Not for me. My plan was to listen and observe, and probably nod sagely from the sidelines now and then.
This guest post from one of our partner non-profit organizations, Different Roads Home, gives you a look into their mission and how you can get involved. Check out the special promotion for SHARE Neighbors at the end.
At Different Roads Home, we strongly believe in the work SHARE is doing in Charlotte. The idea of connecting neighbors to local causes as a means to create a more engaged community seems so simple in theory, yet as SHARE founder Kelly Brooks attests, the Queen City’s nonprofit world has not always been one that is easily navigated.
This group is a full service support operation (including a pantry & mentoring program!) for people with chronic illnesses. Can you guess where SHARE is today?
They are using sports to heal the mind, body and spirit of our most noble Neighbors! Just wait until you see who they serve and you'll be anxious to get involved.
This organization is in business to help families make lasting memories together. We at SHARE consider this group to be one of Charlotte's many gems! Watch the video and then click through to find out who our "Non-Profit of the Week" is.
We have so much great news to share from our nonprofit partners about their amazing work. But, we'd love to hear from you. Let us know if you have stories you'd like to tell and we'll make you a guest blogger!!
