Find Your Bliss...

Volunteering in Charlotte? Here are three steps to make sure it's a perfect fit:

1. Find your passion. You've heard it before - but it's true. You're going to invest time into this gig, so it needs to be something you really believe in.

2. Consider the time you have available. Once you know "who" you want to help (kids, animals, etc.), decide how much time you have to give. No matter if it's a lot or a little, there's an organization out there that will be thrilled to have you on board.

You, and the Fabric of the Universe

It's a sunshine-filled morning in May and I'm in a conference room with some highly committed, energized volunteer managers from local non-profits. We're getting their thoughts and suggestions about some of the changes coming with SHARE 2.0.

On my left is Lynn Miller with Eagle Rock Camp, a small non-profit serving veterans. Her volunteer needs are relatively small but highly specific. To my right is Henry Justice with Blumenthal Performing Arts. They have over 500 volunteers serving in a wide range of roles.

Making Connections Easy

Sometimes the hardest part of connecting is getting started. When Chris Manley was searching for a way to honor the passing of a co-worker's family member, he wasn't sure where to begin. He decided to start with SHARE Charlotte.

"I started by looking for non-profits who work with kids. I was drawn to the idea of helping out a child in honor of another life being cut short," explained Chris. "I am a musician, and my co-worker is an artist, so I went the arts and culture direction."

After scrolling through some of the great non-profits on SHARE Charlotte, Chris came across Community School of the Arts. From there, it was as simple as clicking on the "donate" button.
