FeedNC: Nourishing Lives, Strengthening Community
At FeedNC, the mission is simple but powerful: to create a community where everyone has access to nutritious food, meaningful connections, and opportunities to thrive.
In 2025, FeedNC is on track to make a deep and lasting impact on food insecurity:
- 5,000 individuals will receive fresh, healthy groceries through their Grassroots Grocery program. 🥕
- 100 meals - each week - will be provided to children in need through the Summer Lunch Program (June–August). 🚌
- 40,000 hot meals will be served with dignity through Donoghue’s Community Dining. 🍜
- 100+ children will enjoy a safe space to eat, learn, and play through Fun Friday events, which promote social connection, physical activity, and educational enrichment during the out-of-school summer months. 😎

Community support is crucial in delivering this impact!
Help make this summer hunger-free for our neighbors!
Join FeedNC’s 2025 Summer Hunger Food Drive, happening June 16–20. You can make a difference by donating non-perishable food or giving financially. The goal: 15,000 pounds of food and $15,000 in donations.
Your support will help stock the shelves of Grassroots Grocery and provide the ingredients for healthy, delicious meals in Donoghue’s - ensuring no child, family, or senior has to go without.
Here’s how you can help:
- 🚙 If you live in the northern part of Meck County or want to take a field trip: Drop off non-persishable items at FeedNC’s Mooresville location or at a collection site between June 16-20. View their most needed items, drop off details and more here. If you deliver between 9am-2pm, you can also enjoy breakfast or lunch at Donoghue’s Open Door.
- 💌 Other Charlotte neighbors: Make a monetary donation so FeedNC can purchase the groceries and ingredients it needs most.
- $25 - provides 8 children with a hot breakfast.
- $50 - provides 25 local veterans with fresh produce.
- $100 - supports FeedNC’s sustainable food rescue programs.
🌟 Here’s what they want you to know: Every can donated or dollar given makes a difference! No amount is too small.

This is Gretchen’s Story
When Gretchen moved to the area, she was facing troubling health concerns and didn’t know where to turn. Thanks to a recommendation from her landlord, she discovered FeedNC. She signed up for services and began visiting Grassroots Grocery weekly. The results have been life-changing. With consistent access to fresh, nutritious food, Gretchen has lost 80 pounds - and her children now call Donoghue’s Open Door their “favorite restaurant ever.”
Whether it’s through a bag of groceries, a shared meal, or a safe place to access resources, FeedNC is proving that food is more than nourishment - it’s connection, dignity, and hope.
This summer, you can be part of that hope. Donate, spread the word, and help make sure every neighbor has the food they need and the dignity they deserve.
We can make hunger-free summers a reality - together. 💚
