(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – Summer is the time of greatest need for many of our city’s nonprofits and SHARE Charlotte strives to make it the hottest season of giving with its 2nd annual SummerSHARE campaign. SummerSHARE (#summershareCLT) will run July 11-22 to support over 75 local nonprofits with the goal of raising over 3,000 of the partner organizations’ most needed items.
Last year SHARE introduced SummerSHARE to increase giving in the summer because, as they have coined, “need doesn’t get a vacation.” SHARE believes it’s important to support nonprofits throughout the year and not only during winter months when need may seem more apparent. Last summer’s efforts yielded over 1,000 items for 49 of Charlotte’s nonprofit organizations.
SHARE Charlotte will promote the needs of its nonprofit partners through a dedicated campaign website, social media and email campaigns, events, promotions and media. SummerSHARE will also swing for the fences at the Charlotte Knights baseball game on Tuesday, July 19.
“Most people don’t know that summer is a huge time of need for many nonprofits,” says SHARE Charlotte Founder and Executive Director, Kelly Brooks. “There are very specific needs so we’ve made it super easy for Charlotteans to do something good with just a couple of clicks on their computer, whether they’re at home OR on vacation!”
In preparation for this year’s SummerSHARE, SHARE Charlotte will host a VIP/Nonprofit Prep Rally at Charlotte Ballet on Wednesday, June 22 (6-8 p.m.). Food from Fran’s Filling Station and brews from Unknown Brewing will be served and guests will have the opportunity to mingle with the nonprofits and partners involved.
