Spotlight: Perfect Provisions

Written by Addie Rising    on February 8, 2017    in
Barbara and Garry Wilder followed their hearts and a call as they began providing much-needed meals to students at Thomasboro Elementary in 2011. Perfect Provisions began as a drive from Monroe, N.C. toward Uptown Charlotte to deliver 75-100 homemade bagged lunches each week. Now, Perfect Provisions is a mobile soup kitchen serving 750-800 hot meals each month to Charlotte's homeless neighbors.

In 2015 the Wilders acquired a food truck to begin delivering meals. They started at Ravenwood Hills Apartments, a low-income community near Thomasboro. They also began serving meals to Charlotte's homeless neighbors outside the Men's Shelter of Charlotte and The Salvation Army's Center of Hope. The Wilders hope this year they can expand their services buy acquring a second food truck and storage space.

In addition to hot meals, Perfect Provisions collects and distributes clothing, socks and shoes, blankets, sleeping bags, pillows and personal hygiene products as needed.
