Stories

Some call it stories. Others call it a blog. But here you will find nuggets of goodness to use and -- you guessed it -- SHARE!

#SpotlightOnCLT: Camino Community Center

There’s an old saying that each of our stories pivot on a single moment.

That short pause between what is, and what could be.

In a breath we can decide between what we wish to be true…

And what we can make happen.

“Pathway.”

That’s what Camino means in Spanish.

And it’s what the Camino Community Center has offered thousands of Charlotte residents over the last 16 years.

It serves as a catalyst for those in need.

One which produces a reaction of, “wellness, hope, and opportunity.”

They spring participants forward toward new and better lives through a vibrant food pantry, free medical clinic, and mental health services.

Communications Director Molly Flynn has been volunteering around the Camino Community Center for as long as she can remember. She’s seen first hand the lasting impact this pathway of hope can have.“It’s important for people to know that, because of our holistic mission, we offer more than a free health clinic. We also provide behavioral health services, fitness services, a thrift store, a food pantry, and a homeless feeding program.”

This wide-ranging approach allows Camino to help individuals where they need it most.

And right now where Camino needs you most is The Back to School Children’s Fair, an annual event that provides thousands of children with free physicals, health education, and backpacks full of school supplies.

But to put on this wonderful event they rely on a small army of 300 volunteers of which you can become a crucial part

The Camino Community Center serves as a pathway, yes.

But they rely on people like you to light the way — to guide the individuals they help through such vital medical care and food aid.

If each of our stories pivot on a single moment, consider this yours.

See this as an opportunity to share your time, or money to help the Camino Community Center expand its pathway of giving.

Turn on the light for Charotteans in need, and show them that their pathway forward is as bright as can be.

The Back to School Children’s Fair is on Saturday, July 27th from 9 am - 2 pm at 133 Stetson Drive, Charlotte, NC 28262.

Families in need can pre-register for a backpack.

Others can sponsor a backpack full of supplies for $25 or volunteer to help at the event.

Please take a moment to like the Camino Community Center on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.
