Brooks To Lead New Software Venture; Jacobs Promoted to Executive Director of SHARE Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – SHARE Charlotte Founder Kelly Brooks announced today, at the first-ever SHARE Charlotte Summit, that the nonprofit’s success in the Queen City will begin to expand to other cities through Share Good, a software company she created.  With this evolution, while Brooks will remain involved in SHARE Charlotte, she will now serve as CEO of Share Good and Amy Jacobs, who has led campaigns and programs for SHARE since 2015, will become Executive Director, effective February 1.

“SHARE Charlotte has raised the bar for how communities can engage and serves as a model for other cities to follow,” said Brooks.  “As I take on this new national focus with Share Good, I am confident that Amy is the perfect person to lead SHARE Charlotte into the future.”

SHARE Charlotte was created in 2012 with the goal of building an engagement platform in Charlotte that could scale to cities across the country.  Five years later, the organization has partnerships with over 400 local nonprofits and created community campaigns that have raised nearly $20 million.  In 2016,  #GivingTuesdayCLT, SHARE’s flagship campaign, was the largest community effort in Giving Tuesday history, raising $7.2 million.

“I left the corporate world with a mission to play a more meaningful role in the community”, said Jacobs, who spent 15 years at Bank of America in project management before joining SHARE Charlotte in 2015.  “Working side by side with Kelly and the SHARE Charlotte team for the past two and a half years has allowed me to do that every day. I am excited and ready to step up and lead the local charge.”

SHARE Charlotte makes it fun and easy to invest in our local community by offering simple ways for neighbors, over 400 nonprofits and local businesses, to come together through good. Through its signature campaigns #GivingTuesdayCLT and SummerSHARE, SHARE Charlotte raises awareness about local nonprofits and increases the level of community engagement. SHARE Charlotte believes that by doing good, we will create a stronger, happier Charlotte.
