(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – SHARE Charlotte is proud to announce Wells Fargo as the presenting sponsor of its upcoming #GivingTuesdayCLT, which will run Nov. 14-28. The 4th annual campaign rallies the community to support more than 230 nonprofits, large and small, that serve Mecklenburg County.
#GivingTuesday, globally known as the first day of the “giving season” was made hyperlocal in 2014 when SHARE Charlotte launched #GivingTuesdayCLT, presents a unique opportunity to get everyone involved in making Charlotte a better place.
In 2016 the two-week #GivingTuesdayCLT campaign raised $7.2 million for 174 nonprofits and included partnerships with more than 80 sponsors, local businesses and community organizations, putting Charlotte on the map as the largest community-wide campaign under the global #GivingTuesday umbrella.
“Charlotte actually raised more than any other city. That shows that we have an incredibly compassionate community,” said Mayor Jennifer Roberts at the 2016 unveiling ceremony. Watch a recap of last year’s #GivingTuesdayCLT here.
This year’s campaign includes a 35 percent increase in nonprofit participation from last year; during the two-week window Charlotte community members will be able to support the nonprofits through monetary donations, volunteer pledges and tangible item purchases through SHARE’s Give Shop. The SHARE platform offers all of these easy giving options which allows people to give how and what they can to the causes that matter most to them.
“At the core of #GivingTuesdayCLT is collaboration, all parts of our city coming together around a common cause -- to make our city better. We’re so thrilled to have Wells Fargo’s support and validation to take our efforts to the next level,” says Kelly Brooks, Founder and Executive Director of SHARE Charlotte. “We’re shooting for $10 million this year, but at the end of the day it’s about how we all take part in making a difference in the lives of our Charlotte neighbors.”
“We are proud to continue our support of SHARE Charlotte and their #GivingTuesdayCLT effort,” said Kendall Alley, Regional Bank President for Wells Fargo in Charlotte. “Our goal is to help build strong, vibrant communities and make a positive difference, and we are excited to be a part of something that we believe is doing just that. For our community to prosper, we ALL must prosper.”
In addition to Wells Fargo, #GivingTuesdayCLT 2017 already includes sponsorship by Charlotte Motor Speedway, Google Fiber and Reemprise Fund, and support from 30 local businesses. Any size business or individual who would like to be part of this historic effort should email email@example.com.
