Some call it stories. Others call it a blog. But here you will find nuggets of goodness to use and -- you guessed it -- SHARE!

We had fun with this post about Rescue Ranch, and it looks like you did too! Here's the reader's favorite from December:

One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.  William Shakespeare

Has your child ever seen a fish swimming in a pond? What about a chicken clucking and pecking around a yard? The answer is probably yes. But there are kids in Charlotte who have not, and as a result they may have little connection to or awareness of the natural world.

Rescue Ranch, a unique animal/wildlife campus situated on 87+ acres just north of Charlotte, believes children need hands on experience with animals and nature to become well rounded, empathetic adults. The facility currently houses a Humane Education Center and is in the process of building a Pet Memorial Garden and walking/riding trails. Eventually they plan to add a 24-hour emergency/specialty vet clinic, an equine/large animal barn and therapeutic riding center, and more.

Working with schools in Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville the ranch provides educational hands-on learning opportunities. They also work with organizations like Go U (North Carolina Wildlife Federation), Boys and Girls Club, and local church groups to provide opportunities for high risk and low income youth to see and experience animals and environments they have only seen on TV or read about in books.

The focus throughout all of these programs is humane education, with the overarching goal of encouraging kindness, consideration and prevention of cruelty to animals.

Teacher Assistants  – If you have teaching experience Rescue Ranch would love your help with the implementation of their Humane Education Programs. Four different programs serve all ages, from preschool through 12th grade.
