TFI 2020 Parent and Community Talk-Building Resilience in Children and Teens

Dr. Linda Hoopes—Developing Personal Resilience

Program Overview:
Most important for resilience is the role of parents and caregivers in supporting and nurturing the resilience of their children . At the same time, they are often facing significant challenges in and out of the classroom that call on their own resilience. In this talk, we will discuss common and uncommon challenges in the lives of children, and explore four building blocks of personal resilience that help you successfully address them: calming yourself, selecting strategies, solving problems, and managing energy. You’ll complete a self-assessment of your resilience, share examples of successfully dealing with adversity, and identify specific habit-based strategies for tapping into your own resilience and building your capability to thrive in turbulence.
About the Speaker:

President and founder of Resilience Alliance, she brings over 25 years of experience in psychology and organizational change to her work as a consultant, trainer, and speaker, and is the author of Prosilience: Building Your Resilience for a Turbulent World.
