TFI 2020 Summer Virtual Symposium- Strategies to Promote Resilience for Teachers and Their Students
Key Note Presenter Dr. Linda Hoopes Program Overview: Teachers have an important role in supporting and nurturing the resilience of their students. At the same time, they are often facing significant challenges in and out of the classroom that call on their own resilience. In this workshop, we will discuss common and uncommon challenges in the lives of participants, and explore four building blocks of personal resilience that help you successfully address them: calming yourself, selecting strategies, solving problems, and managing energy. You’ll complete a self-assessment of your resilience, share examples of successfully dealing with adversity, and identify specific habit-based strategies for tapping into your own resilience and building your capability to thrive in turbulence. About the Speaker: Dr. Linda Hoopes helps individuals, teams, and organizations learn to thrive in turbulence. President and founder of Resilience Alliance, she brings over 25 years of experience in psychology and organizational change to her work as a consultant, trainer, and speaker, and is the author of Prosilience: Building Your Resilience for a Turbulent World. Linda received her Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Tennessee, and has served on the faculties of several institutions, including Rutgers, Georgia Tech, and Colby College. She is licensed as a psychologist in the state of Georgia. She incorporates a number of other influences into her work including music, photography, sailboat racing, and massage therapy.
