No previous experience is required, as the necessary education and training will be provided. If you are willing to participate and complete IRS training and have a desire to help your community, we invite you to be a part of our volunteer team! About VITA: Volunteer Taxpayer Assistance Program (VITA) has been in operation for more than 50 years, and offers FREE basic tax preparation to those who qualify. Aside from helping the community and being part of a great team, volunteering with VITA for Common Wealth Charlotte offers you the following: Learn new skills; Free Education- Top-notch tax preparation training and practical application; Community network with community members and agencies; Rewarding and meaningful experience; Continuing Education Credits for many professionals, such as enrolled agents, un-credentialed tax return preparers, and certified financial planners (attorneys and certified public accountants may also qualify for the credits, depending on their state licensing requirements). While VITA tax prep takes places annually January through April, we begin to identify and train volunteers immediately after each tax season.
