What We Do

Let’s Talk About It– the Autism Center is an award-winning education and advocacy organization working to facilitate greater opportunity for youth and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Using a holistic and communal approach that involves caregivers, families, and communities; we develop and implement programs to address the needs of individuals on the spectrum while delivering hope, health, and a sense of community to their caregivers.

Through strategic partnerships with peer organizations, corporations, and institutions, we educate audiences on the challenges and capabilities of persons with ASD thereby empowering them to become allies in advocacy. In partnership with Charlotte Lab School, we launched our inaugural Autism Resource Fair in 2023 which was attended by hundreds of families, educators, and ASD allies. In the same year, with a focus on caregiver support, our executive director published Spectrum of a Journey: A Guided Journal for Parents of Children on the Autism Spectrum. In 2022, we launched the Optimist Support Circle, and since the launch of our international podcast in 2020, we have successfully delivered education, resources, and community for over 3 years to an audience that continues to grow exponentially. We are proud of the value we bring to families, corporate environments, and communities and look forward to expanding program accessibility through expanded collaboration.

A trusted name in the community, our existing partnerships include The Mecklenburg County Crisis Intervention Team, TIAA, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Western Carolina University, and Charlotte Lab School among others. High quality collaborations with committed organizations have allowed us to make an exceptional impact and have led us to receive multiple awards. These include the 2021 Crisis Intervention Team Supporter of the Year Award, the 2021 Dr. Annie Lawrence Mental Health Award, and the 2021 Eustress Community Organization of the Year Award among others. We welcome the support of individuals and organizations as the need for autism support continues to exceed the amount of resources available.
