Stories

Some call it stories. Others call it a blog. But here you will find nuggets of goodness to use and -- you guessed it -- SHARE!

New to Charlotte? Get to know your city through volunteering

If you’ve just moved to the Queen City and you’re looking to make some new connections, we’ve got some great ideas for you. These three volunteer opportunities will connect you with like-minded folks who love to do good, just like you!

Pet Visits with Hands On Charlotte - Hey, your furry friend would probably love to meet some new people too! Take your pet along to a scheduled visit at a local retirement community. The pets don't need to have any special training or certification. They just have to be friendly and prepared to receive a lot of attention and praise.

Community Workday with Carolina Thread Trail - The Thread is a landmark project creating a regional network of greenways and trails that reaches 15 counties and 2.3 million people. And it’s fun. Get your hands dirty with this unique trail-building (and friend-building) opportunity.

Hearts-a-Bustin’ 5K Trail Run at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens - If you haven’t been to Daniel Stowe yet, use this Valentine’s Day event as an excuse to get over there and check it out. Help with the race, then check out the garden’s 380 acres on the banks of Lake Wylie.

If you'd rather go to a party, check out our Nonprofit Events Calendar for the best ways to meet and greet in February!
