Juneteenth on the Corridor was created in response to the need to have a celebration of black liberation and unity on Charlotte’s historically black corridor, the Beatties Ford Corridor. The Partnership of grassroots organizations has led to a comprehensive Juneteenth program on the corridor that educates, unites and engages the community in a manner that highlights and respects the historical aspect of Juneteenth, as well as the significance Juneteenth has on the current state of the black community. Programming includes performances by African dancers, Black musicians and storytellers, voter registration and education, children's activities, health screenings and more. In the past, the Juneteenth Celebration on the corridor has engaged, educated and inspired thousands of members of the Charlotte community. Last year, more than 700 people attended the event including community members, partner corporations, public entities and more.
