MeckMIN

Event:
MeckMIN Faith Leader Networking Lunch

Topic of Discussion: Melting ICE: How federal immigration policy impacts immigrants in Charlotte-Mecklenburg

Join Stefanía Arteaga for a conversation on the history of immigration enforcement in Charlotte, projected changes, stories of resistance, and how interested communities of faith can partner with and support the local immigrant community.

Stefanía Arteaga is a dedicated organizer and strategist, deeply involved in advancing immigrants’ rights in North Carolina. Co-founder of Comunidad Colectiva and Carolina Migrant Network, Stefania has tirelessly worked to push back against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) collaboration with local law enforcement. Her efforts include organizing with undocumented students, leading deportation defense campaigns, and contributing to the successful end of 287(g) in Mecklenburg County. Her work has been documented in the Netflix Docu-Series Immigration Nation.

In addition to our main speaker, we are inviting representatives from other organizations that are run by or partner with the local immigrant community -- you'll have the chance to meet them and explore partnership/support opportunities.
