What We Do

Catawba Lands Conservancy (CLC) is a land trust – a nonprofit, community-based conservation organization that permanently conserves and manages land for public benefit in the Southern Piedmont of North Carolina. We are dedicated to saving land and connecting lives to nature.

Our six-county land protection area includes Catawba, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg and Union counties.

CLC currently permanently conserves over 170 properties including over 15,000 acres of land. That land includes farmland, ecologically rich lands to protect wildlife habitat and local drinking water, and land to provide the public with a direct connection to explore the natural world around them.

IMPACT OF COVID-19 - SPECIFIC NEEDS:

How We Are Impacted:
Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to work from home and suspend ALL volunteer activity until further notice. This also means that we have less help on the trails of the Carolina Thread Trail and preserves that we protect and steward that provide outdoor access and connection to nature for our community during this time.

How You Can Help:
Over these next few weeks as more people are getting outside to enjoy the warm weather, would you consider helping us by either making a gift to help steward your local outdoors or consider purchasing item(s) from our Wish List, the links are provided below:

• Be Here for Nature: Make a donation by visiting https://catawbalands.org/donate/ to help cover the added cost of preserve and trail maintenance.

• Purchase Wish List items: See our Amazon Wish List below, and a full list of our needs at https://a.co/e0UsiTo. (Our staff will be accepting all deliveries outside of the doors to the Carolina Thread Trail office).

Interesting Info

Our Conservation Vision 2030 identifies four key focus areas for CLC: wildlife habitat, clean water, local farms and connection to nature.
We are the lead agency for the Carolina Thread Trail; over 350 miles of it are open to the public
We partners with nearly 1,100 donors, 128 landowners, 375 volunteers and several corporate partners.
