What We Do
Loaves & Fishes fights hunger in our community by providing a week's worth of nutritionally balanced groceries for families and individuals who are experiencing a short-term crisis. Through a network of emergency food pantries located throughout Mecklenburg County, Loaves & Fishes fed 80,232 people last year, enough to fill Bank of America Stadium. 36% are children.
IMPACT OF COVID-19 - SPECIFIC NEEDS:
Calls for emergency food assistance have increased exponentially as more people find themselves with reduced work hours or layoffs. At the same time, we have had to close our "brick and mortar" pantry locations, switching to "drive-through" mobile pantry distributions in parking lots throughout the county. Spanish speaking volunteers are needed to help translate at these sites.
FINANCIAL DONATIONS REQUESTED: Financial donations are what is needed most right now to help with food purchases, materials for emergency food boxes, etc...To donate visit: loavesandfishes.org/donate-today or Text HUNGERACTION to 44321
