Poppy Muse is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization aiding in the stabilization of foster youth transitioning out of care. Programs are in two tiers: Health & Wellness and Career Development. Our work is led by foster care alumni – our founder, board members, and team all have lived experiences within the system. Every part of Poppy Muse, from our logo and website to our community programs, was built by the loving hands of foster care alumni and adoptees. Poppy Muse (former name H.A.W.T Muse Inc.) was founded by Tameka Mclean (former foster youth) in 2019, with the intent of helping young women navigate their transition out of foster care into independent adulthood. We serve youth from underserved communities, who have not had the advantages of their more privileged peers. Thus far, we have served over 380 youth and are seeking to serve many more in the coming years.
Youth served (both young women and men) have come from group home/foster home placements or have aged out with no support system. Our goal is to provide the tools and services they need to become self-sufficient. We want all current and former foster youth to thrive – with a strong network behind them, with that, their future looks brighter than ever!
Additionally, we are always looking to add new members to our board committees, and we're need of additional facilitators, interns, volunteers and local partnerships. Feel free to email our director at tameka@poppymuse.org to inquire.
