What We Do

Urban Ministry Center is an interfaith organization dedicated to bringing the community together to end homelessness, one life at a time.

We are excited that Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte have officially merged. You will continue to see our identities separate or co-branded until a final identity for our new organization is rolled out in late 2019. Our new organization touches nearly every person who experiences homelessness in our community, serving over 1,000 people each day in services from street outreach to emergency shelter to permanent housing.

We provide basic services for our neighbors experiencing homelessness including a soup kitchen, laundry, showers, mail, telephone, and counseling to take specific steps necessary to end homelessness. We have an array of enrichment programs including art, gardening, soccer, and a choir to build relationships with neighbors and end homelessness. We founded and facilitate Room In The Inn, providing temporary shelter during the coldest months, we provide treatment to homeless men with substance abuse problems, and permanent supportive housing to the chronically homeless.
