The Board of Directors of Raise a Child of the Carolinas supports the work and provides mission-based leadership and governance. Selected Board Members understand and accept fiduciary and legal responsibilities, and have an extraordinary opportunity to join a mission-driven organization that is growing rapidly in the Charlotte, NC area to become impactful in both the North and South Carolina region.

We are seeking a volunteer Board Chair. This person will lead our board , ensuring board members carry out their defined responsibilities and will diligently carry out the organization’s mission, vision, and purpose. This is a hybrid position with flexible hours, requiring on average 3-5 hours per week and bi-monthly meetings.

Board Chair responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Oversee board and committee members
  • Primary board liaison with the Chief Executive Director, collaborating to set strategy, progress on objectives, and handle issues as they arise
  • Act as spokesperson for the organization
  • Give or secure an annual contribution in the amount of $500

Board Participation/Terms

  • The Board Chair will be expected to effectively lead - facilitate board meetings, recruit, train and manage committee leaders, and participate in other volunteer opportunities as available. Board members are required to be located in Charlotte, NC or within 30 minutes commute.
  • Board Chair will serve a two (2) year term and be eligible for re-appointment.
  • To enable RACC to credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals, the Board Chair is expected to fundraise and make RACC a top philanthropic priority.

Qualifications

  • Professional and leadership experience in a corporate and/or non-profit environment
  • Relationship and networking skills with the ability to cultivate relationships among diverse individuals and groups
  • Personal qualities of honesty, intelligence, integrity, credibility, and passion for improving the lives of the children and families we serve
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Service on Raise a Child of the Carolinas’ Board of Directors is without payment.
