Position Overview

The Director of the Civic Corps is a leadership role within the Office of the Executive Director that is responsible for overseeing the strategic development, management, and execution of the Civic Corps program. This individual will work closely with the Executive Director of CivicsEDU to ensure the successful recruitment, training, and deployment of volunteers while operating on a volunteer basis until funding is secured to transition into a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development and Strategy

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the Civic Corps in alignment with CivicsEDU’s mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to set program objectives, performance indicators, and timelines.

Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement

  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract qualified and passionate volunteers for the Civic Corps.
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies to ensure volunteers remain motivated, informed, and committed to the mission.

Training and Development

  • Design and oversee comprehensive training programs to equip volunteers with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective civic education initiatives.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create relevant training materials and resources.

Deployment and Project Management

  • Work with the Unit Directors to coordinate the deployment of Civic Corps volunteers to schools and communities based on identified needs.
  • Manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives.

Partnership and Collaboration

  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance the impact of Civic Corps initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external partners to leverage resources and expand the reach of the program.

Time Commitment

As a volunteer organization, we hold biweekly staff meetings lasting approximately 2 hours each. While there are no fixed work hours, we encourage you to dedicate available time between these meetings to projects relevant to your role. It is highly recommended that the selected candidate retain their current employment arrangement while offering their services to CivicsEDU.
