Position Overview

The Fund Development Specialist is a role on the Finance and Development Team that is responsible for playing a critical role in the identification, application, and management of grants and other financial sources. This individual will work closely with the Director of Finance and Development to develop strategies for attracting and retaining donors, and managing fundraising activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development:
    • Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Development to develop comprehensive fundraising plans and strategies aligned with CivicsEDU’s mission and priorities.
    • Research and identify potential funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
  • Fundraising Execution:
    • Manage and cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
    • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and events, leveraging both traditional and digital platforms.
    • Write compelling grant proposals, sponsorship packages, and donor communications.
  • Donor Stewardship:
    • Implement donor stewardship strategies to maintain and enhance relationships with current donors, ensuring high levels of engagement and retention.
    • Acknowledge donations promptly and appropriately, ensuring donors feel valued and informed about the impact of their contributions.
  • Collaboration and Reporting:
    • Coordinate with program staff to gather information and data necessary for grant applications and reporting.
    • Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress, outcomes, and opportunities for the Executive Director and Board of Trustees.
  • Networking and Outreach:
    • Represent CivicsEDU at community events, conferences, and meetings to enhance our visibility and expand our network of supporters.
    • Build strategic partnerships with other organizations, stakeholders, and community leaders to advance fundraising and advocacy efforts.

Time Commitment

As a volunteer-run organization, we hold biweekly staff meetings lasting approximately 2 hours each. While there are no fixed work hours, we encourage you to dedicate available time between these meetings to projects relevant to your role. It is highly recommended that the selected candidate retain their current employment arrangement while offering their services to CivicsEDU.
