The primary role of the Wayfinders mentor is to provide support and encouragement for the mentee and help navigate them toward success in school and life! We ask the following of our volunteer mentors: 1. Meet in-person with your mentee at least once a month during the school year. (Wayfinders provides enrichment opportunities to make this easy.) 2. Stay in touch with your mentee by phone, text, or email. 3. Pitch in to drive mentee to enrichment activities, as needed and able. 4. Help prepare your mentee for camp (Attend Camp Kick-Off Party in May with mentee; Help gather necessary clothing and bedding items and pack; Provide transportation to and/or from camp if able and needed; Write mentee at camp at least once a week) 5. Commit to sustaining a mentoring relationship with your mentee for the five years they are in our program (*Note – we are excited to have expanded into high school, so you will have the option to continue your relationship to graduation and beyond!)
