- Provide friendship and companionship to patients and families. Volunteers visit in a patient’s home or facility; wherever they call home. Volunteers read to patients, talk about common interests, keep them company, play board games and provide a comforting presence.
- Volunteers visit when it is convenient for their schedule and the family’s schedule. We ask that volunteers visit their patient at least 1x per month. The length of a visit is determined by how the patient is feeling and the schedule of the volunteers.
- Volunteers do not provide any hands on care; only friendship to the patient.
- Volunteers do not transport patients, administer medications, or feed patients.
Hospice volunteers enrich patients’ lives and the life of the organization in untold ways. Their dedication makes patients feel valued, relieves families of stress, and allows Carolina Caring to do more and serve better.
