ZABS Place is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Media Outreach and PR Intern to join our team. As a non-profit organization that operates a thrift boutique and employment training center for individuals with developmental disabilities, we are passionate about promoting our mission and increasing awareness of the valuable work we do. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our growth and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.

Responsibilities:

  1. Social Media Management: Become the voice of ZABS Place and shape our online story! You'll identify exciting opportunities across social media platforms to ignite brand awareness, spark conversations, and drive engagement with potential customers. Craft compelling content that captures the essence of ZABS Place and resonates with our target audience.
  2. Media Coverage Solicitation: The primary responsibility of the Media Outreach and PR Intern will be to actively engage with various media outlets, including newspapers, magazines, TV stations, and online platforms, to solicit coverage for ZABS Place. This will involve reaching out to journalists, editors, and producers, and building relationships to pitch story ideas related to our thrift boutique and employment training center.
  3. Blogger Outreach: The intern will also be responsible for identifying influential bloggers and online influencers in the fields of fashion, lifestyle, and disability advocacy. You will develop personalized pitches to encourage bloggers to write stories, reviews, and features about ZABS Place, its unique mission, and the positive impact it has on individuals with developmental disabilities.
  4. Content Creation Support: Collaborate with our marketing and communications team to create engaging content, press releases, and media kits that effectively communicate our organization's vision, values, and impact. Assist in developing captivating stories and angles that highlight the inspiring journeys of our program participants and showcase the quality and affordability of our thrift boutique products.
  5. Tracking and Reporting: Maintain a comprehensive database of media contacts, coverage secured, and outreach activities. Track the success and impact of media outreach efforts, and provide regular reports to the marketing team, highlighting key metrics, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

  1. Passion for the Mission: A genuine interest in disability advocacy and a strong belief in the potential of individuals with developmental disabilities to succeed in the workforce and community.
  2. Excellent Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are crucial for effectively engaging with media professionals, bloggers, and internal stakeholders. Ability to craft persuasive and compelling pitches and press releases is essential.
  3. Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers. Previous experience in PR or media relations is a plus.
  4. Creativity and Resourcefulness: The ability to think creatively and develop innovative strategies to garner media coverage. Resourcefulness in identifying media opportunities and leveraging social media platforms to amplify outreach efforts.
  5. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands while meeting deadlines.
  6. Professionalism and Teamwork: A professional and positive attitude, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
