Team Mentors

Queen City Robotics Alliance (QCRA) Mission Statement - Nurturing the future workforce by providing practical and hands-on STEM experiences for local youth. QCRA Vision Statement - That all students in the greater Charlotte area are equipped and prepared for their future. 

Team Mentors for QCRA will support the work of QCRA and our FIRST Robotics teams. Specific responsibilities include knowing and understanding the mission, policies, programs, and needs of QCRA; Representing QCRA and their team to stakeholders; and acting as an ambassador for the organization. 

Mentors can be parents, teachers, or any individual who can bring either technical or non-technical expertise to a team. Technical Mentors can help with engineering, design, programming, and other technical areas of the organization while non-technical mentors can help in areas such as finance, marketing, scholarship, project management, and recruiting. Volunteering is weekly during competition season (during the school year) with occasion needs outside of competition season for recruiting and/or fundraising. 

Team Mentors for QCRA will be expected to register with FIRST North Carolina and successfully complete their screening process including Youth Protection. All Mentors must be at least 18 years of age. Team Mentors should display commitment to and understanding of QCRA and its member teams along with personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of QCRA’s students. Volunteering with QCRA’s is without remuneration.
