Help young students build strong literacy skills and develop a love for learning! As a Volunteer Reading Literacy Tutor with StriveCLT’s Afterschool Program, you’ll work one-on-one with students using a scripted curriculum designed to improve their reading comprehension and confidence. No experience is necessary—training, resources, and ongoing support are provided!

What to Expect

As a Volunteer Literacy Tutor, you’ll work with students individually in two 30-minute sessions during our afterschool program, providing encouragement and guidance as they strengthen their literacy skills. Sessions take place at Marie G. Davis School every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 5:00 - 6:00 PM, and volunteers can choose to commit to one, two, or all three days per week from February through May 2025.

No prior tutoring experience is needed—just a passion for helping children succeed! All training and materials are provided at no cost, ensuring that you feel confident and prepared. Volunteers should have a high school diploma and be able to pass a CMS background check, which can be completed at cmsvolunteers.com.
