Overview: Talented Girls in Action is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young girls through education, mentorship, and leadership development. We are seeking an experienced individual with a background in higher education, such as a principal, district leader, or superintendent, to join our board of directors. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute expertise, guidance, and support to our organization as we strive to positively impact the lives of young girls.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Strategic Guidance: Utilize your expertise in higher education to offer strategic guidance and input on the organization's educational initiatives, programs, and policies.
- Advocate for Educational Excellence: Advocate for educational excellence and equity, ensuring that our programs align with best practices and address the needs of diverse communities.
- Network and Partnerships: Leverage your professional network to establish partnerships, collaborations, and opportunities that enhance the organization's impact and reach within the education sector.
- Mentorship and Leadership Development: Support the development and implementation of mentorship and leadership development programs that empower girls to excel academically and pursue their aspirations.
- Governance and Oversight: Participate actively in board meetings, committees, and decision-making processes to provide oversight, ensure accountability, and uphold the organization's mission and values.
- Fundraising and Resource Development: Assist in fundraising efforts by identifying potential donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities within the education sector.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience in higher education, preferably as a principal, district leader, superintendent, or equivalent role.
- Passion for empowering young girls through education and leadership development.
- Strong understanding of educational trends, challenges, and opportunities, particularly those affecting underserved communities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and networking skills.
- Ability to think strategically, problem-solve, and make informed decisions.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
- Previous board or governance experience is desirable but not required.
Time Commitment:
- Regular attendance at board meetings (typically quarterly) and committee meetings as needed.
- Availability for occasional special events, fundraisers, or strategic planning sessions.
- Estimated time commitment: 5-10 hours per month.
