Overview:
Sullenberger Aviation Museum (SAM) aims to inspire, educate, and elevate the next generation to pursue careers in STEM, aerospace, and aviation. SAM invites the community to explore the vast contributions of aviation in our lives, economy, and culture. The new museum, developed in partnership with Charlotte-Douglas International (CLT) Airport, will open in the summer of 2024. SAM is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated volunteers to join our team!
As a Welcome Center Greeter at our state-of-the-art aviation museum, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, setting the tone for their museum experience. Your dedication to hospitality, exceptional customer service, and commitment to creating memorable experiences for museum visitors will contribute to the overall enjoyment and educational value of their visit. Your warm and welcoming demeanor, combined with excellent customer service skills, will contribute to creating a positive and memorable visit for aviation enthusiasts and the general public alike.
Responsibilities:
- Visitor Reception:
- Greet visitors with a friendly and welcoming attitude as they enter the museum.
- Provide information about current exhibits, upcoming events, education programs, and museum amenities.
- Customer Service:
- Assist visitors with inquiries, directions, and general information.
- Ticketing and Membership Services:
- Provide information on membership benefits
- Scan guests tickets for admission and orient them to the museum space
- Information Desk Support:
- Maintain the welcome center information desk, ensuring it is organized and well-stocked with brochures, maps, and other relevant materials.
- Direct visitors to specific exhibits, facilities, and amenities.
- Promotional Material Distribution:
- Distribute brochures, promotional materials, and event flyers to visitors.
- Promote upcoming events, educational programs, and special exhibits.
- Assist with Crowd Management:
- Monitor visitor flow and assist with crowd management during peak times and special events.
- Provide guidance on queue lines and entry procedures.
- Collaboration with Museum Staff:
- Coordinate with museum staff to stay updated on current exhibits, events, and any changes in museum operations.
- Follow and implement museum safety and security protocols, ensuring the well-being of visitors and artifacts.
Qualifications:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Friendly and approachable demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service orientation and the ability to handle a variety of visitor interactions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or a similar role
