The Youth Development Mentor(Female) will provide guidance, support, and encouragement to young female mentees to foster personal growth, academic achievement, and leadership development. The mentor will play a pivotal role in empowering first-generation college students to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a supportive one-on-one mentoring relationship with a female mentee.
- Commit to weekly communication with the mentee via phone, email, or text to provide consistent support.
- Dedicate 2-3 hours per month to engage in group mentoring activities with the mentee, aimed at broadening her experiences and assisting in goal setting.
- Serve as a positive role model, cheerleader, coach, and advocate for the mentee.
- Encourage the mentee to develop leadership skills and to become a change-maker in her community.
- Assist the mentee in navigating challenges and celebrating successes.
- Provide feedback and reports on the mentee’s progress to the mentoring program coordinators.
Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to youth development and education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to relate to and engage with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Patience, understanding, and a non-judgmental attitude.
- Previous mentoring or coaching experience is a plus but not required.
Time Commitment:
- Weekly communication with the mentee.
- 2-3 hours of in-person or virtual group mentoring activities with the mentee per month.
Support Provided:
- Training and orientation to the mentoring program.
- Ongoing support and resources from program coordinators.
- Opportunities for mentor development and networking
