Wing Haven

Event:
Historic Holiday Open House

Enjoy the winter hue and shapes of the gardens and special holiday decor at Wing Haven's two historic houses of Eddie and Elizabeth Clarkson at 248 Ridgewood Avenue and Elizabeth Lawrence at 348 Ridgewood Avenue. The SEED Wildlife & Children's Garden will also be decorated with the wildlife in mind—carrying on the beloved traditions of Mrs. Clarkson.

Come enjoy:

  • Self-guided garden tours. Wing Haven’s Garden Curators and volunteer garden docents will be on hand to interpret the gardens and their history
  • Interpretation of Elizabeth Lawrence’s books and writings, and learn how to create your own garden journal
  • Volunteers from Mecklenburg Audubon Society will be present to share their knowledge on birds and bird habitats
  • Create fun holiday origami and scavenger hunts in the SEED Wildlife & Children’s Garden
  • Hot cider and light refreshments
