What We Do

Access to Success (A2S) is a nonprofit organization that provides sustainable programs that generate positive change for Nigerian children and their communities. Our vision is that each person in Nigeria finds a dignified path to a successful life and is empowered to live out God’s plan for a future filled with hope. A2S was founded by former Davidson Basketball player, Andrew Lovedale and benefits Andrew’s home in Benin City, Nigeria. Nigeria has one of the largest populations of people living in extreme poverty in the world. As the world’s most populous black nation, Nigeria’s greatest resource is its people. A2S taps into the existing potential of the community they work with to lift up the next generation of Nigerians by bridging gaps and providing access to resources through their programs. The A2S After School Academy, scholars program, community outreach program, and entrepreneur empowerment program serve approximately 10,000 children, youth, and families every year.

Our Year-Round Activities Include:

The A2S After School Academy: provides food, school supplies, curriculum assistance, extra curricular activities, and school fee support for 240 children

The A2S Scholars Program: provides need and merit based scholarships for 70 university scholars in Nigeria and opportunities to study at the high school and university levels for 7 students in the US

The Community Outreach Program: reaches 10,000 each year by conducting shoe distributions, school supply distributions, food distributions, and facilitates local school partnerships

The A2S Entrepreneur Empowerment Program: provides resources and mentorship to 250+ entrepreneurs as well as intensive mentorship and funding opportunities to 3 businesses each year through our pitch competition and incubator

Our Summer Programs include: Basketball and Empowerment Camp: provides meals, life lessons, athletic shoes, gear, and basketball development opportunities to 500 participants (co-ed); Vacation Bible School: in conjunction with our church partner in Nigeria, provides faith education and Bible story based activities for 250 children.

In 2023, our focus as an organization is to bridge barriers that prevent our program participants from taking full advantage of our offerings. As we develop youth for their future, we need to make sure their immediate needs are met so they have the time and energy to learn and explore new topics. This year we are emphasizing leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and computer skills in our curriculum to better prepare our students and scholars for the workforce.
