BOOM Charlotte
Welcome to BOOM, Charlotte’s artist-led performance and visual arts showcase of contemporary and experimental works created on the fringes of popular culture. We celebrate art, performance and the unexpected. Our goal is to widen access to Charlotte's art scene while uniting individuals across social classes, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, ages, and genders through art experiences. BOOM art experiences are a movement that believes in the explosive power of art to unite and strengthen our community. It believes art is transformational and can bridge traditional divides. We have brought Charlotte the biggest, loudest, and most diverse arts festival since 2016. What started as a multi-day art festival in Plaza Midwood has expanded into a year-round art initiative that brings art to those who lack easy access to Charlotte's larger art scene. BOOM Charlotte has several ways for you to be involved. We are seeking donors, event partners, volunteers, and contributing artists. BOOM’s mission is simple: to spark creativity and collaboration among a diverse group of artists, performers, and audiences. To achieve that mission we convene artists, volunteers, nonprofits, businesses and neighborhood organizations to form a unique coalition working to transform the way arts and culture are created, shared, and consumed in Charlotte. We are intentionally reaching across the cultural divisions to bring together a team of creatives with a vision. BOOM is the realization of that ever-evolving vision that changes with the community and artists curatorial team.
- BOOM is produced by a team of volunteers and advisors who believe in the power of art to unite, inspire and transform the Queen City.
- We meet audiences and artists where they are. We activate neighborhoods & online spaces to amplify art that is not often granted access to the larger art scene.
